The brief summary of verse 31 from Surah Baqarah by – Mufti Maaz Haroon.

In verse 31 of Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah tells us that He taught Prophet Adam (عليه السلام) the names of everything — things in the world, their uses, and their reality. This knowledge was a gift from Allah that no one else had, not even the angels.

This verse shows us two important lessons:

1. The honor of knowledge: Allah raised Adam above the angels because of the knowledge He gave him. This teaches us that real honor comes from learning and understanding, not just worship or power.

2. Man’s special role: By giving Adam this knowledge, Allah showed that humans have a special role on earth as His representatives (khalifah). We are meant to use our mind, wisdom, and knowledge to live properly and follow Allah’s guidance.

👉 So, this verse reminds us that knowledge is a blessing from Allah, and we should respect it, seek it, and use it in a good way.
