Surah Baqarah, Ayah 27 — Short Tafsir By Mufti Maaz Haroon
Allah is describing a group of people who do three harmful things:
1. They break their promise with Allah
— They ignore the guidance He gave, even after agreeing to follow it.
2. They cut off relationships that Allah told us to keep strong
— Like family ties, community bonds, and connections that bring goodness.
3. They spread corruption and chaos on Earth
— Instead of fixing problems, they make things worse through lies, injustice, or selfish behavior.
Allah says: These are the ones who truly lose out.
—
To Remember It Simply What They Do:
“Break the bond, break the people, break the peace — and break themselves.”
—
🎯 What Does This Mean for Us Today?
• Keep your promises to Allah
— Like praying, being honest, helping others, and living by His rules.
• Stay connected to your family and community
— Even when it’s hard. Forgive, support, and uplift each other.
• Be a peacemaker, not a troublemaker
— Whether online or offline, choose kindness over drama.
—
Real-Life Analogy:
Imagine a football team where one player refuses to follow the coach’s plan, ignores teammates, and keeps arguing. That player ruins the game — not just for himself, but for everyone. That’s what this verse is warning against.
—
Mind Map to Stick to the point:
“Keep the promise, keep the people, kill the drama.”
• Keep the promise → Follow Allah’s guidance
• Keep the people → Maintain good ties with family & community
• Kill the drama → Don’t spread trouble or harm

—
🌟 Takeaway for Life and Akhirah:
Be loyal to Allah, stay united with people, and spread peace — that’s how you win in both worlds.
