The brief summary and Tafsir of verse 38 surah Baqarah | By Mufti Maaz Haroon

“We said, “Go down from here, all of you. And when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance – there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.’”

Explanation

When Adam (A.S.) and Hawwa (A.S.) made a mistake in Jannah, Allah sent them down to earth — but not as a punishment, rather as the beginning of human life and purpose. Allah promised that He would keep sending guidance (through prophets and the Qur’an) to show people how to live properly.

Allah said:

“Whenever My guidance comes to you, and you follow it, you’ll have no fear about your future and no sadness about your past.”

So, this verse is full of hope — Allah didn’t leave us lost. He gave us a map (the Qur’an) to navigate life, find peace, and succeed in the Hereafter.

In Simple Words

Allah is saying:

“Even if you make mistakes, come back to Me and follow My path — I’ll protect your heart from fear and sadness.”

Lessons for Gen Z

1. Life is a test, not a punishment:
Adam (A.S.)’s descent was the start of our mission — to prove our loyalty to Allah through how we live.

2. Guidance is your GPS:
The Qur’an and Sunnah are like a navigation system — they keep you on the straight path when the world tries to confuse you.

3. Don’t follow every trend:
Social media, influencers, and fame can mislead you. True peace comes from following Allah, not from likes or followers.

4. No fear, no sadness:
When you live with purpose and faith, you won’t be crushed by stress or regret — you’ll always know Allah’s got your back.

5. Your daily actions are building your future — in Jannah or Jahannam:
Every single thing you do matters.
If you spend your days and nights only playing games, watching dramas, scrolling series, or listening to music — you’re actually wasting time that could be earning you a place in Hellfire.
Every action either builds your home in Paradise or in Hellfire.
So be conscious: your daily habits are shaping your Akhirah.

Summary

Allah never abandons us — even when we sin. He keeps guiding us through the Qur’an and Prophets. If we follow His path, we’ll find peace in this world and eternal happiness in the next. But if we ignore His guidance and waste our time in useless things, we’re destroying our own future.
