The brief summary of verse 36 surah Baqarah | By Mufti Maaz Haroon
Summary
This verse talks about the moment when Shayṭān deceived Adam and his wife, causing them to disobey Allah. As a result, they were sent down from Paradise to live on earth, where they would face trials and enmity with Shayṭān. Earth was assigned as their temporary home and source of sustenance.
Lessons from the Ayah:
• 1. Shayṭān is a real enemy
He actively seeks to mislead humans, even those closest to Allah. We must remain vigilant and seek protection through remembrance and obedience.
• 2. Mistakes are part of the human journey
Even Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) slipped. This teaches humility and the importance of repentance rather than despair.
• 3. Earthly life is a test
Being sent down to earth marks the beginning of our trial—where choices, patience, and striving define our path back to Paradise.
• 4. Divine mercy follows human error
Though Adam and his wife were expelled, Allah still provided sustenance and guidance. His mercy never abandons us.
• 5. Enmity between truth and falsehood is ongoing
The ayah highlights the lifelong struggle between humans and Shayṭān—a reminder to stay spiritually alert and morally grounded.
