Lessons from This Miracle
Every word in this verse teaches us something important:
- Faraqna (We split): Allah didn’t just move the water; He made a clear path, showing His unique power to create a way where none existed.
- Anjaynakum (We saved you): This was a complete and perfect rescue. Not a single person from Bani Israel (the Children of Israel) was harmed.
- Aghraqna (We drowned): In the same event, Allah brought total destruction to Pharaoh and his army.
- Wa antum tanzurun (While you were watching): This miracle happened openly, for everyone to see. It was a clear sign, not a hidden event.
Allah reminded Bani Israel: “You saw this amazing event with your own eyes!”
The Full Story: How the Sea Parted
Based on ancient explanations (Tafsir), here’s what happened:
- Musa’s Command: Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and his people were trapped. Pharaoh and his army were closing in.
- Hitting the Sea: Allah told Musa to strike the sea with his staff.
- The Sea Opens: And boom! The huge sea split into twelve clear paths, one for each tribe of Bani Israel. The water stood tall like mountains on both sides.
- Safe Passage: Bani Israel walked safely across the dry land, touching the water walls, filled with wonder and thanks to Allah.
- Pharaoh’s Arrogance: Pharaoh, full of pride, decided to follow them into the parted sea.
- The Sea Closes: As soon as the last of Bani Israel crossed, Allah commanded the sea to return to normal. The water rushed back.
- Pharaoh’s End: Pharaoh and his entire army were drowned right in front of Bani Israel’s eyes. Truth won, and injustice ended.
This event was:
- A huge sign of Allah’s endless power.
- Proof that Musa (AS) was truly a prophet.
- A strong warning against being cruel and unfair.
What This Means for Us Today
This incredible story from Surah Al-Baqarah 50 holds timeless lessons for everyone:

- Remember Blessings: We must always remember and be thankful for Allah’s past favors and rescues in our lives. Don’t forget His help!
